I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I also have a Masters Degree in Organizational Psychology. I believe my clients deserve evidence-based treatment. And, I believe in working collaboratively to assist individuals and families who want to identify and move toward the values in their lives.
I am a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and a founding board member of the Southwest Michigan Eating Disorders Association. I practice evidence-based treatment for eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and family needs. I have been in private practice in Kalamazoo for 10 years and I live with my husband of 21 years in a lovely historical Kalamazoo neighborhood.
I provide the following services for clients from throughout Michigan:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
In treating anxiety and depression, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients alter negative repetitive patterns, defuse from overwhelming destructive behaviors, and create movement toward what is really important in their lives.
Eating Disorder Treatment
I am trained in the Maudsley approach to treating adolescents and young adults who are struggling with eating disorders. This evidence-based approach views food as medicine, and includes parents & families as essential components of recovery from eating disorders.
I have specialized training as a Marriage and Family Therapist that provides me with the skills, abilities and tools to increase empathy and breakup gridlock that commonly occurs – even in relatively healthy marriages. I also work with non-married couples and provide pre-marital counseling.
Modern families face stressors that reflect our rapidly changing culture and society. These families deserve a well-trained counselor that can strengthen and improve the significant relationships of our lives.
